📐 MathsBoard

Online Maths Board for Teaching Live
Typeset working, one step at a time

Teaching maths on a screen usually means a stylus, a visualiser or a photo of a whiteboard. MathsBoard needs none of them: you type the working as plain text and it appears as proper typeset notation.

Reveal a solution one line at a time and every learner sees each step arrive on their own device — the back row reads the same line as the front.

What you can do

⌨️Compose

Plain text in, typeset maths out

Type (-b +- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac))/(2a) and it renders as the quadratic formula. Everything is composed from the keyboard — no trackpad, stylus or writing pad.

🪜Reveal

Working shown step by step

Reveal the solution one line at a time. Each step appears on every learner’s device as you go, so nobody copies from a photo afterwards.

✏️Gaps

Hide a line for the class to find

Click a line number to hide that step. Learners type it themselves and you see their answers arrive, with the share who got it right.

📈Plot

Plot a function on the board

Add a graph of a function straight onto the board alongside the working it belongs to.

📱Phone

Your phone as pad and remote

Use your phone to move through the steps and to annotate the bit everyone is stuck on, while the board stays on the projector.

🔗Access

Join by QR code, no accounts

Learners scan a QR code or open a short link and follow along in their browser. Nothing to install and no student accounts.

🤖 AI, with you in control

AI drafts the working — you decide what the class sees

Give MathsBoard a problem and AI drafts a worked solution as a starting point. It is a draft: you edit, reorder or delete any step before revealing it, and nothing reaches learners until you show it.

  • 🤖AI drafts a step-by-step worked solution from a one-line prompt.
  • ✏️Edit, reorder or remove any step before you reveal it.
  • 🧑‍🏫The share of correct answers is a signal for pacing, not a mark — the answers are listed so you can judge them yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a stylus or graphics tablet?

No. MathsBoard is composed entirely from the keyboard. You type maths as plain text and it renders as typeset notation, so a laptop is all you need.

Do I need to know LaTeX?

No. You write maths the way you would type it in a message — fractions with a slash, powers with ^, sqrt() for roots — and MathsBoard turns it into proper notation.

How do learners follow along?

They scan a QR code or open a link. Each step you reveal appears on their own device at the same moment, with no account or app to install.

Can learners answer a step themselves?

Yes. Hide any line of the working and learners type that step. Their answers appear as they arrive, along with the percentage that matched.

Can I use it inside a lecture?

Yes. A MathsBoard can be added as a break in an Interactive Lecture, so you can present, pause for a worked example, then carry on with the slides.
