ColabYard's concept map tool lets trainers select two to eight lectures or slide decks, and AI reads them to build a visual map of the whole module's concepts and their connections. Trainers can then edit concepts and connections to refine the map. AI drafts, you approve, before learners view the module-level map on their own devices to see how everything fits together. The result: see the whole module, not just this week.

Teaching a live session today often means switching between five different tools, one for slides, another for quizzes, another for group work, another for the whiteboard, and hoping nothing breaks in the transition. ColabYard brings all of that into one platform, where lectures, quizzes, discussions, whiteboards, and applied activities work together seamlessly. Learners join instantly with a QR code, no account or download needed, while AI helps trainers generate content, always with the trainer approving before anything reaches students. This is ColabYard: everything you need to teach live, in one place.

ColabYard — Introduction

Discussions is a real-time group discussion tool where trainers create up to four timed breakout groups, each joinable by its own QR code or link, with optional AI-generated Tutor Prompts that auto-fire during the session or can be triggered on-demand for groups that finish early. Students post sticky notes, react, comment, and see typing indicators live, while trainers moderate from an Observe view with post/word counts, AI-likelihood badges, and per-group engagement tracking. The session wraps up with a cross-group contribution leaderboard, a full-screen presentation mode for debriefs, and options to refresh or clear the board for reuse with a new cohort.

Online Discussions

ColabYard's Live Lectures unify quizzes, activities, discussions, GreenBoards, and more into one seamless live session where trainers move fluidly between teaching, checking understanding, and collaboration—with students joining instantly via QR code—while a new timeline view makes planning these multi-format sessions as simple as drag-and-drop. Complementing this, the new Reflection task structures post-lecture learning around Kolb's reflective cycle, using AI to generate lecture-specific prompts that guide students through experience, observation, conceptualisation, and experimentation, turning reflection from an afterthought into a guided process for consolidating and applying what they've learned. Together, these features make ColabYard a cohesive end-to-end learning experience—from intuitive session design and seamless live delivery to structured post-lecture reflection.

Interactive Lectures

ColabYard 's Activities section offers a range of interactive exercise formats — including matching pairs, sequence matching, categorisation, labelling, and fill-the-blanks — designed to test understanding beyond simple multiple-choice. These formats adapt well to different subject areas, from ordering steps in a coding process or maths problem to sorting concepts in a case study scenario. By giving trainers flexible ways to build hands-on, applied exercises, Activities help students demonstrate real understanding rather than just recognising the right answer.

Activities

Colabyard Quizzes let trainers create, generate and launch interactive quizzes that students join instantly, with answers and results updating live as the session runs. Trainers get real-time insight into performance, with results and motivational feedback shown to students who aren't at the top, keeping the experience encouraging rather than discouraging. Quizzes give trainers a fast, low-friction way to check understanding without breaking the flow of a session.

Quizzes

ColabYard 's Guided Scenario task places students inside a realistic, branching scenario where each decision they make shapes the path and outcome that follows. Rather than testing recall, it challenges students to apply judgement, weigh trade-offs, and consider different stakeholders as a situation unfolds in real time. Built-in scoring and feedback reflect not just what students chose, but the reasoning behind each decision, helping them see how different approaches lead to very different results.
